Changes in yellow fever certificate requirements for Costa Rica and Bolivia
Costa Rica
The Costa Rican Ministry of Health has announced a change to the requirements for yellow fever vaccination for travellers to Costa Rica [1]. An International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis documenting vaccination against yellow fever is now required from travellers arriving from areas with a risk of yellow fever transmission. The countries considered by Costa Rica to be a risk of yellow fever transmission are:
- Africa: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan.
- America: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guyana, Peru, Venezuela.
There is no risk of yellow fever transmission in Costa Rica. There is no requirement for yellow fever vaccination for travellers to Costa Rica travelling directly from the United Kingdom.

Bolivia
The Bolivian Government has announced that as of December 2007, United States (US) citizens, travelling to Bolivia as tourists, will require an entry visa. As part of this visa requirement, US citizens must possess an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis that documents vaccination against yellow fever [2].
There has been no change to certificate requirements for United Kingdom citizens.
There is a risk of yellow fever transmission in parts of Bolivia and vaccination is recommended. Travel health advice specific to Bolivia can be found on the NaTHNaC Country Information Pages.
