30 November 2004: Changes to the E111 form

Due to changes in European law a new E111 form has been introduced to replace the existing one.

The E111 form entitles UK residents to free or reduced cost medical treatment when visiting countries within the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.

Existing E111 forms are valid only until 31 December 2004.

During the course of 2005 the UK will be adopting the European Health Insurance Card, which will be issued to those who apply for the new E111 form.
