Travel to countries affected by Ebola: Public Health England Returning Workers Scheme as of 1 July 2015

Workers who are travelling to or from Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia and may be at risk of exposure to the Ebola virus such as health workers, scientists, business and voluntary sector workers, should register via their sending organisation or employer with Public Health England’s (PHE) Returning Workers Scheme. Our Country Information Pages have now been updated with the new yellow fever certificate requirements and recommendations listed in World Health Organizations publication, International Travel and Health.

NaTHNaC Chair

NaTHNaC is very pleased to announce that Dr Rima Makarem has been appointed to the role of chair. Rima will provide leadership to the NaTHNaC Technical Advisory Group.

Rima joins NaTHNaC with a wealth of experience in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry, and is currently working as non-executive director and Audit Chair at UCLH. Rima also holds a portfolio of non-executive positions and currently runs her own management consultancy business.

Revised recommendations for tuberculin skin testing (Mantoux) and MMR

As of April 2015, the publication Recommendations for the administration of more than one live vaccine (Public Health England - first published September 2014) has been revised in relation to recommendations for tuberculin skin testing and MMR vaccination.  Read more here.

GSK re-introduces typhoid-containing vaccines

In 2011 GSK suspended production of Typherix (Typhoid, Polysaccharide vaccine) and Hepatyrix  (Hepatitis A (inactivated) due to manufacturing capacity constraints. These vaccines are now available again. Read more here.

Notification of YFVC Fee Changes

Further to the annual review of the Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre (YFVC) training and registration fee, the new fee structure will be:

  • Classroom Training  - £180.00 for training days from 1st April 2015
  • Online Training - £105.00 for applications received from 1st April 2015
  • Registration Fee (Annual) - £135.00 for new centres and renewals from 1st April 2015
  • Registration Fee (Biennial) - £245.00 for new centres and renewals from 1st April 2015
