Shortage of yellow fever vaccine in the UK

NaTHNaC is aware of the current shortage of yellow fever vaccine in the UK . This is caused by one of the two suppliers being temporarily unable to continue production of the vaccine. The Department of Health are making enquiries into possible alternative sources of vaccine.

In the interim period NaTHNaC suggests prioritizing the administration of vaccine based on destination risk and departure date. Therefore if a surgery has limited supplies of Yellow Fever vaccine, persons who are travelling to high risk destinations with an imminent departure date should have priority for receiving vaccine.

Further information will be posted onto the website as it becomes available
